Safety and checks
We check every cleaner before their first booking, and again every year.
Before a cleaner can take a booking
- Identity – passport or photo ID.
- Right to work in the UK – British passport or a Home Office share code, re-checked yearly.
- National Insurance number – with proof from HMRC.
- Five-year address history – with proof for each address.
- DBS check – a basic DBS (or Disclosure Scotland / AccessNI) check from the last 12 months, or kept up to date on the DBS Update Service.
- Character reference – contacted by our team.
- Training – safeguarding children and adults, COSHH, manual handling and the Maids2Clean certification.
- Insurance – public liability insurance where we ask for it.
- Payout account – our payment provider, Stripe, verifies their identity and bank account.
If any check runs out, the cleaner's profile is hidden from clients until it's renewed. We remind them 30 days before.
On the day
- Every cleaner has a QR badge – scan it to check they're verified right now.
- You can see when your cleaner is on the way. Their location is only shared while they're travelling to your booking.
- Cleaners have an SOS button and may leave any booking where they feel unsafe.
If something goes wrong
Report damage or a concern in the app within 48 hours, with photos. Payment to the cleaner is held while we look into it. For anything urgent, or if someone is in danger, call 999.
Checks reduce risk but can't remove it entirely – please keep valuables safe and tell your cleaner about anything fragile.
